Astanga Yoga is a yoga of practice, requiring mental and physical application, which develops strength, poise and inner wisdom. This method of Yoga involves the purification of the system through the heat generated from the breath and continual movement. Our approach is not one of striving to achieve, rather, allowing the body to unfold in it’s own time through the active concentration of the breath, increasing vitality and lending a rhythm to this dynamic sequence while incorporating a softness and meditative quality.
At Yoga Plus we teach the Primary Series as well as developing the practice of those who are on the Intermediate and beyond.

Two types of classes in Astanga Vinyasa Yoga are offered: If you have never practised this method before then let us introduce you to Astanga Vinyasa Yoga, gently guiding you part-way into the Primary Series with detail and explanations on breath and postures. This is a talk-through Introductory class which is also suitable for those with little or no yoga experience. This class will create a solid foundation of yoga practice which will enable you to continue safely at home. The Self Practice (Mysore-style) class, as practised by Radha and Pierre with their teacher Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, Sharath in Mysore, will assist and adjust you to your fullest potential. If you already have a steady practice, this is a wonderful opportunity to develop it to a deeper level with the guidance of experienced and dedicated teachers, in a setting conducive to Yoga. If your practice is fairly regular or you have worked with us before and would like to develop it further then join our Mysore-style class where we will guide and assist you. We will also be there when you are unsure of details whether sequence or breath. There is always time allowed for theory, questions and discussion.

Radha and Pierre are dedicated Astanga Vinyasa Yoga practitioners and teachers. They are direct students of Pattabhi Jois and over many years have spent time with him, rrefining and developing their practice. As one of the first teachers to intoduce Astanga Yoga to Europe, Radha has taught many students who have gone on to become Astanga teachers themselves.
Their style is to 'guide without interference' and to encourage without pressure, enabling students to discover their full potential. Their view is that people of all ages and conditions can benefit from this yoga and their aim is to offer guidance in such a way that does not clutter the mind with unecessary dogmas, leaving body and mind free to develop from its own inner wisdom.
